The 12th Ramayana Dance Drama

Ramayana, one of the largest ancient epics in world literature, narrates the life of Rama, the legendary prince of Kosala kingdom. It highlights the duties of relationships, portraying ideal characters like the ideal father, the ideal servant, the ideal brother, the ideal wife and the ideal king. The characters of this epic tale, Rama, Sita, Lakshmana, Bharata, Hanuman, Shatrughna, and Ravana, are all fundamental to the cultural consciousness of India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and south-east Asian countries such as Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, etc.

The 12th Ramayana Dance Drama on Dec 2, 2017 offers a unique opportunity to witness the vibrant enactment of this epic by performers of India, Indonesia, and Thailand. These three distinct cultures will be present various episodes from the Ramayana through dance and music, culminating in a dance of celebration that will have all the performers on the stage simultaneously to represent the oneness of humanity.

IRINA, established in 1998, is dedicated to presenting and preserving the glory of Ramayana as it is celebrated in various south and south-east Asian countries. Most of the performers at the dance drama are prominent professionals in the field of dance, instrumental music and vocal music who are bringing their unique talents to present a mesmerizing experience for the audience.
